Albino apparently complained about some pain in his knee and advised the team dugout to replace him with someone else in goal. The most complicated thing about the injury is that he has experienced pain on his knee in an already operated area. The Blaster for the time being has released a statement explaining Albino Gomes’ concerns as the 27-year-old will be sent for further examination and scans once the swelling eases out.

The club extends its full support to Albino. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back,” read Kerala Blasters FC’s official statement.

Albino has been a stalwart in the Kerala Blasters goal in the last couple of seasons. The former Aizawl man saved three penalties and made a whopping 58 saves last season for the Tuskers. He was definitely one of their star performers from a highly underwhelming season. He also started as the first choice keeper under new head coach Ivan Vukomanovic. He started all of the first four matches this season and played every minute of football until the injury happened against Odisha FC.

It was a great match for the Blasters as they have made a slight comeback in this season after defeating the Kalinga Warriors 2-1 in their previous encounter. Star striker Alvaro Vazquez scored his first goal in India whereas Prasath K finally got his maiden ISL goal. Uruguayan midfielder Adrian Luna was exceptional as he created both the chances. Although Kerala Blasters conceded late in the game through Nikhil Raj, they were good enough to bag home all three points.
