Gujarat Titans will be looking to defend their IPL crown, while Chennai Super Kings, who already have four IPL titles to their name, will look to add one more to their trophy cabinet. For the Lucknow Super Giants, this is an excellent opportunity to win their maiden T20 title, while the Mumbai Indians will be looking to add a record sixth IPL crown in the coming week. Gujarat Titans in Playoffs/Final: Played: 02, Won: 02

Gujarat Titans has one hundred percent record in the IPL playoffs. The Hardik Pandya led franchise made it to the IPL 2022 Playoffs and won the Qualifier 1 by 7 wickets against Rajasthan Royals and made it to the final. GT also won the IPL 2022 final with the same margin and defeated Rajasthan once again to lift their maiden IPL crown. The team is looking in great shape and are the prime contenders in lifting their second consecutive IPL title on May 28, 2023.

Chennai Super Kings in Playoffs/Final: Played: 23, Won: 14, Lost: 09

The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings are the second-most successful team in the history of the IPL. The team already holds the record for making it to the playoffs for a record 12 seasons out of the 14 played in history. The Men in Yellow also have a record nine appearances in the final, winning four and losing five in the process. CSK holds the record for losing the most IPL finals.

Overall, the team has played 23 matches in knockouts, playoffs, or finals in its history. CSK has won 14 matches and lost nine, registering a win percentage of close to 61.

Chennai Super Kings finished second on the points table in IPL 2023. The team will be looking to go the distance this season and capture their maiden IPL crown since 2021, which could possibly be MS Dhoni’s last with the Yellow Brigade.

Lucknow Super Giants in Playoffs: Played: 01, Lost: 01

The Lucknow Super Giants are the least experienced of all the four teams in this year’s playoffs. LSG, like the Gujarat Titans, made it to the Playoffs last year but was eliminated by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

LSG has finished third in the points table at the end of the IPL 2023 league stage. Stand-in-skipper Krunal Pandya-led franchise finished with 17 points from 14 matches, winning eight matches and losing four games; the one match against CSK was washed out due to rain.

With the eliminator against the Mumbai Indians in Chennai scheduled for May 24, it will be interesting to see whether LSG will be able to improve their record this time around.

Mumbai Indians in Playoffs/Final: Played: 18, Won: 13, Lost: 05

The Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the history of the IPL, with a record five titles to their name. Rohit Sharma has led the side to all five titles and will look to add one more to his trophy cabinet in the next week. The Men in Blue also have the best record in the playoffs, having played 18 matches and winning 13 of them. Mumbai has lost just five matches in the playoffs or in the final.

Mumbai Indians’ last IPL title came in 2020 in the UAE. The Rohit Sharma-led unit became the fourth team to qualify for the playoffs and will face the Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator at Chepauk on Tuesday. Another IPL title will only further strengthen the Mumbai Indians’ record as the best team in IPL history, as they will become the first team to win six IPL crowns.
