IPL Franchise Revenues – IPL Media Rights Revenue: The IPL Media Rights E-Auction turned out to be a big hit. The Indian cricket board (BCCI) has earned 48,390 Crore from the sale of rights. Along with the BCCI, IPL Franchises will be the biggest gainer of BUMPER media revenues. This blockbuster deal will benefit the 10 IPL franchises immensely. Their share from the central pool media rights revenue is set to rise by at least Rs 500 crore each.

Bumper IPL Media Rights Revenue: How much each franchise will gain?

  • IPL 2022: Franchise Media Rights Share was Rs 201.65 Cr
  • IPL 2023: Each franchise will instead make 436.6 Cr from the same component
  • IPL 2025: Franchise Media Rights share will grow to 495.6 Cr
  • IPL 2027: In last year of the Cycle, the same share for each franchise will grow to 554.6 Crores.

IPL Franchise Revenues: Bumper increase in IPL Media revenues to make IPL teams richer by 500 Crore each every year

IPL Media Rights Revenue – How much each franchise will gain? The IPL franchise owners will not only see their coffers grow. But the rise in income will also grow their valuations to new levels.

For Seven of the 10 IPL franchisees’ valuations are already above $1 billion. The increas in EBIDTA for franchises will further see the valuations soar for all 10 IPL Teams. 

“Along with all others, franchise partners are our biggest stakeholders. When BCCI gets benefitted, its obvious the biggest stakeholder will also benefit. We are happy that we could provide growth and deliver on our promises to IPL Owners”, said Arun Dhumal after the IPL Media Rights tender to InsideSport.

How much the IPL Media Revenues have grown? The media rights revenue have grown almost by 196%. IPL Per Match Value which stood at 54 Crore for the last cycle has reached 118 Cr with the sale of rights.

  • Package A: Sold to Disney Star for 23,575 Cr
  • Package B: Viacom bagged the package for 20,500 Cr
  • Package C: Viacom got this NON-EXCLUSIVE packages for Rs 3,273 Cr
  • Package D: Overseas TV and Digital Rights are shared by Viacom18 and Times Internet for Rs 1324 crore. Viacom18 won the rights of AUS, SA, UK territories, while Times Internet bagged MENA & US sectors.


How Teams Earn Revenues From IPL? 

All IPL teams get a share of the Media rights (Television & Digital) revenues. BCCI as per the contracts with franchises share 50% of Media and sponsorship revenues with franchises. 

Though franchises have their own sponsorship revenues, ticket sales revenues and other avenues to make monies, CENTRAL POOL contributes the maximum to their coffers.

As the total earnings from IPL Media Rights Sales came to 48,390 Crore. 50% of this sum will get distributed among the 10 IPL Teams.

Bumper IPL Media Rights Revenue: How much each franchise will gain?

  • IPL 2022: Franchise Media Rights Share was Rs 201.65 Cr

  • IPL 2025: Franchise Media Rights share will grow to 495.6 Cr

Other than the Media Rights Revenue, BCCI will also share 50% of Sponsorship Revenues with the IPL Teams. The total earnings from this component has already reached 1100 Crore in IPL 2022.

Like the Media Rights Revenues, this component will also give franchise a bigger pie from the forthcoming season.
