IPL 2023: In the ninth game of the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023) at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 81 runs after losing to Punjab Kings in their opening match. After the mammoth win over Virat Kohli-starrer RCB, KKR co-owner and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) joined his team in the dressing room for the celebration. The boys in purple and gold could be seen enjoying and singing team’s song in the back room.
After a comeback from 89/5, KKR posted a mammoth 204/7 thanks in large part to the brilliant counterattacking innings of 68 (29) by Shardul Thakur and intelligent performances by Rahmanullah Gurbaz (57 off 44) and Rinku Singh (46 off 33).
Varun Chakravarthy (4/15), Sunil Narine (2/16), and rookie Suyash Sharma (3/30) of the KKR spinners then joined the fray, creating a web around the RCB batters to bowl them out for 123 and win the game by 81 runs.

The former RCB captain Virat Kohli may not have had a good night with the bat, but he did got the satisfaction of seeing SRK teach him the hook step to the hit song “Jhoome Jo Pathaan”
Following the game, SRK approached Kohli and gave him a bear embrace before showing him the dance moves to “Jhoome Jo Pathaan” from his hit film “Pathaan.” After that, SRK and Kohli both had broad smiles on their faces.
The RCB openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis got the away team off to a fast start as they were chasing 205. Early on, Kohli found his rhythm, hitting two well-placed fours to make 10 off Umesh Yadav’s first over. Du Plessis hit a couple of sixes and a four to make it a 23-run over before the pair went on Southee. Kohli hit one over mid-on for a four.
Sunil Narine was subsequently added to the attack by Nitish Rana, and the decision paid off handsomely as Kohli was sent back for 21(18) and only three singles were conceded. Varun Chakravarthy’s next over saw Du Plessis drag one onto the stumps, demonstrating the effectiveness of another bowling change.
The addition of spin worked in KKR’s favour because at the conclusion of the Powerplay, RCB had reached 50/2. From there on, visitors kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.
