Indian Premier League 2023: With a marathon 186-run knock in the fourth and final Test against Australia in Ahmedabad, Virat Kohli ended a 1205-day Test century drought and returned to his best form after a long dry patch. Ahead of the IPL 2023, the former RCB skipper is gunning to achieve more growth in his game.
By scoring his first T20I century against Afghanistan in an Asia Cup match, the former Indian captain ended a century drought in international cricket last year. He then scored three more hundred in ODI matches against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
In an interview with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kohli stated that while he is back to playing the way he did, there is still room for growth in order to reach his peak in IPL 2023.
“I think I’m back to playing the way I do, but there’s a lot of room to get to my best, which hopefully happens during the IPL” – Virat Kohli talks about returning to Bengaluru and Chinnaswamy, on Bold Diaries.#PlayBold #ನಮ್ಮRCB #IPL2023 @imVkohli pic.twitter.com/IJvTf8W1jt

Virat Kohli: Best is yet to come
“It was just about rediscovering the love for the game. That could happen when I stepped away from what was happening on the field for so long. I was trying to find ways when I was exhausted. I needed to connect myself as a human first, not judge myself constantly or keep myself under scrutiny all the time. Staying away from the game helped me. That helped me rediscover my excitement and love for the game. When I came back, everything was an opportunity, nothing was pressure,” Kohli said in RCB video.
“The results followed. I was able to play well in T20Is, ODIs, and recently in the Test series as well. I’m back to playing the way I do, there’s still a lot of room to get to my best, which hopefully happens in the IPL if I get to the level I really want to play. That would help the team,” Kohli further said.
