With Gujarat Titans being the defending champions the opening match of the IPL 2023 season is expected to take place in Ahmedabad. According to the report, the IPL stakeholders, who have spoken to the BCCI, have said that the board has given them an indication about March 31 or April 1 being the potential start date for the IPL 2023. However the major concern would be to try and squeeze in the IPL 2023 final date with WTC final set to be played on June 7.
Foreign players availability for IPL 2023 playoffs a major concern
Stretching the playoffs and finals till June could result in conflict with ICC rules. As per the rules players are not allowed to take part in any other league seven days before the WTC final. In that case the IPL 2023 final will have to be conducted before May 30. BCCI official while speaking to InsideSport said, “We will try to avoid any potential clash with World Test Championship final. We understand there could potentially be a problem over players’ availability,” .
