IPL 2023 Retention: Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz have been traded from Gujarat Titans (GT) to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023) season. The fast bowler from New Zealand, Lockie has played 13 matches for champions Gujarat Titans and picked 12 wickets that included a 4-wicket haul. While Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz didn’t play any game last season for the Hardik Pandya-led side.

Kiwi pacer Lockie Ferguson was bought by GT for a huge sum of Rs 10 crore last year. But the right-arm pacer couldn’t deliver the goods and spent runs at an economy rate of 8.96.

Kolkata Knight Riders have also traded Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Gujarat Titans. He was included in the Gujarat Titans squad in the 2022 IPL edition as a replacement for England batter Jason Roy but did not play any game last season.

These announcements come after the KKR had an average 2022 IPL season. In that season, they won six out of their 14 matches and finished in the seventh position in the points table with 12 points.

The ten participating teams have already begun preparing their squads for next year’s edition. The deadline to retain and release the players from their respective IPL Squads fast approaching. Each team has been granted an extra sum of Rs 5 crore (INR 50 million), increasing the pursue value to Rs 95 crore for the 2023 mini-auction.
