IPL 2023: Naveen ul Haq and Gautam Gambhir have targeted Virat Kohli in a rather cryptic Instagram post on Saturday. It has been nearly a week after the infamous verbal altercation between RCB’s Virat Kohli and LSG coach Gautam Gambhir during their Indian Premier League 2023 match in Lucknow on May 3. In a rather obscure post, Naveen-ul-Haq, who was at the centre of the dispute, took a vicious shot at Kohli.
“Treat people the way you want to be treated. Talk to people the way you want to be talked to,” Naveen said with a photo of himself and LSG coach Gautam Gambhir. He also used “#With (GOAT Emoticon)”. Gambhir replied a short while later, stating, “Be who you are! Don’t ever change.”
What happened between Virat Kohli, Naveen ul Haq and Gautam Gambhir?
Following RCB’s revenge victory over LSG, Kohli and Gambhir got into a furious argument that required the players from both sides to step in and break up.
Prior to this altercation, Kohli and Naveen got into a fight during the game that the umpire intervened to break up before it spilled over into the post-game handshake. Later, both athletes had used Instagram posts to retaliate against one another.
For violating the IPL code of conduct, Kohli and Gambhir were fined 100% of their match fees, while Naveen was only given a 50% fine.
Even after the altercation on the pitch, the verbal battle persisted on social media. “Everything we hear is an opinion, not a truth,” as Marcus Aurelius is said to have said, according to a quote that Kohli shared. “Everything we observe is a viewpoint, not the reality,” the quote added.
On the day when RCB lost to Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium by seven wickets, Naveen and Gambhir collaborated on Instagram.
Prior to Mahipal Lomror’s career-best knock to push RCB to 181 for four, Kohli (55 off 56) completed his “homecoming” with a historic fifty. Delhi’s foreign hitters played bravely to reach the total in 16.4 overs despite needing to win every game from this point on to have a chance at a play-off berth.
