Green had injured his finger while batting in the first innings of the Boxing Day test in Melbourne. Following the surgery the all-rounder will be racing against time to be fit for India tour next year. Cameron Green injury update
The all-rounder failed to deal with Anrich Nortje bouncer during Australia’s first innings. The ball struck the glove of Cameron Green which caused his right index finger to bleed. Battling the pain, Green completed his half century, however he did not take the field in second innings. Following the injury, the 23-year-old has been ruled out of the third Sydney Test against South Africa. Post Australia’s win over South Africa Green took to Instagram to share pictures of the game. Along with those, he also posted a scan of his broken finger.

The injury during the second test against South Africa also meant Green will not be playing for the Perth Scorchers in the BIg Bash League. Following the injury Green while speaking to cricket.com.au had said, “You try to not show the pain straight away, I marked my guard again and walked a couple of steps, and I was like ‘I reckon my finger is out of place here. I checked on it – it looked a little bit inverted is the only way I can explain it. It already had a big cut in it, then I got the bad news after the scan.”
Speaking about the upcoming tour of India next year the youngster said that he is looking forward to it. He said, “It obviously hurts not playing for Australia. I’ve played every game since I debuted so it’s going to feel a bit weird watching Test cricket from home. I’m definitely going to miss it. I’m going to do as much as I can to get it right and try to go to India”.
He added “A lot of people talk about the tour to India, how tough it is mentally and physically. It‘s going to be a massive tour for us. We’re as best prepared as we’re ever going to be, so (I’m) looking forward to it.”
