The Chennai Super Kings posted a video in which Kasi Viswanathan gave his take on the assembled team post-IPL 2023 auction.
He said,” We have a very good mix of all-rounders in the sense we have Ben Stokes, Jadeja, Moeen Ali, Kyle Jamieson and I think it’s a good blend. As far as bowling is concerned we have a good crop of Indian seamers also and it should give captain ‘ Thalaivan’ a great chance to come back and do well this season. Overall I am happy with the combination we have. This we are happy with what have got.”

Kasi Viswanathan on handing CSK captaincy to Ben Stokes
Chennai Super Kings used masterstroke by announcing their intention to buy back Sam Curran during the auction. Looks like the bluffed paid off well with Curran ending up at Punjab Kings for a record price in IPL history. The Yellow brigade wen tall-out to buy Stokes in the auction and managed to secure the man. Speaking exclusively to Insidesport Kasi revealed that Dhoni was continuously on call with the team at IPL 2023 auction and kept guiding the team. When asked, will Stokes be the next captain of CSK? CSK CEO said, ‘it will be Dhoni’s call’.
“We are SUPER excited to have Ben Stokes in our line-up. MS is also SUPER-HAPPY, he was on call with us and was guiding the team throughout at the AUCTION. MS was happy that we got an allrounder we wanted”.
He also revealed “We had planned in an manner that we have to pick either of Curran or Stokes at the auction. We are lucky that plan got materialized. We look forward to welcome Stokes now in Chennai”.
