IPL 2023: Johnson Charles of West Indies has joined Kolkata Knight Riders for the remainder of Indian Premier League 2023. The explosive batter from the Caribbean will replace Litton Das of Bangladesh in KKR squad. Charles is a like-to-like replacement for wicketkeeper-batter Das.
Johnson Charles has played for West Indies in 41 T20Is, made 971 runs, and was a member of the teams that won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2016.

What happened to Litton Das?
Due to a family emergency in the final week of April, Litton, a Bangladeshi international who made his IPL debut this season, went home after playing just one match.
“Litton Das has had to return to Bangladesh earlier today (Friday 28 April) due to an urgent family medical emergency. Our wishes go out to him and his family to make it through this difficult time,” KKR stated.
The right-handed keeper-batter only played one game this year, against the Delhi Capitals, scoring just four runs while having a miserable day behind the stumps, squandering two chances to stump Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav in the game that KKR lost.
After missing the first few games owing to responsibilities on the international stage, Litton joined the KKR team in the second week of April. Shakib Al Hasan, another member of his Bangladeshi team, had already withdrawn from the competition.

Charles has also participated in 224 T20 matches and amassed over 5600 runs beside the 41 T20Is.
He has joined Nitish Rana-led Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 50 Lakh.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will play KKR on Thursday night. However, Charles won’t be able to attend this game because his arrival date hasn’t been set in stone yet.
