IPL 2023: MS Dhoni – MS Dhoni’s return to Chepauk Stadium proved to be a memorable one, but the talismanic skipper is not happy with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowlers. During the post-match presentation, the veteran wicketkeeper-batter issued a stern warning to the bowlers to not bowl any more wides and no-balls. CSK bowlers bowled 13 wides and 3 no-balls against LSG, which did not please Dhoni. The 41-year-old already has got one warning for maintaining a slow rate, and if Dhoni gets one more, then he will be banned for one game. Follow IPL 2023 Live Updates with InsideSport.IN.
IPL 2023: MS Dhoni issues stern warning to bowlers, say be ready to play under new captain
“Fast bowling we need to slightly improve. Need to bowl according to the conditions. What is important is to keep an eye as to what the opposition bowlers are doing. One more thing is they’ll have to bowl no no-balls or extra wides. Or they’ll have to play under a new captain. It will be my second warning and then I’ll be off. Only reason we’ve scored those runs is if the surface is nice,” said Dhoni after the game.
Dhoni’s bowlers also bowled a lot of extras during their first game against Gujarat Titans. Against LSG, Tushaar Deshpande, Hangargekar, Ben Stokes, and Deepak Chahar had a bad day conceding over 200 runs. If not for Moeen Ali’s four wickets, CSK’s homecoming to Cheapuk would have ended in a defeat. Dhoni has given an ultimatum to the bowlers to be ready to play under the new captain if they keep conceding extras.

Currently, Ben Stokes is tipped to take over captaincy reins from Dhoni. However, the southpaw might be entrusted with the new job sooner than later if Deepak Chahar & Co keeps leaking wides and no balls.
