Ishan Kishan after his stunning double century went on to register a hundred in the Raji trophy for Jharkhand. He said, “Sometimes I pinch myself thinking that I scored a double century. I do want to score more double hundreds but I do feel special knowing that it is a major feat that has been achieved by some of our greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rohit Sharma.”

Kishan disclosed how he watched the innings of Virender Sehwag and how he has imbibed the aggressive approach to batting
” There were chances of getting a triple hundred. There were about 15 overs to go and now when I see the highlights there was a chance of getting there but I knew after such a huge inning, my wrists were gone. I bat a lot like Virender Sehwag because I have watched a lot of his highlights, where he smacked all the bowlers, whoever they were. So maybe after watching the highlights, I got that instinct of playing the game in a much more attacking way.”
“MS Dhoni has been a big inspiration for me. I loved Adam Gilchrist’s batting and wicketkeeping. But for Dhoni, it was an overall approach. His on-the-field and off-the-field activities. His calmness in meeting and greeting everyone. These help a person grow which for me is most important.”

Ishan Kishan has often been touted as the next MS Dhoni of India. The young batter, however, is under no pressure and feels it is an immense privilege to be compared to the Indian legend.
“I take it very positively. It feels good when people consider me to be with him. If I can do 70% of what MS Dhoni has done for the country, I will be very happy. He has helped us win so many things including the likes of the T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup Champions Trophy and others. I too want to be in that situation and make my team win,” he concluded.
