IPL 2023’s BIG Weekend
- Saturday, May 13: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Lucknow Super Giants, 3:30 PM
- Saturday, May 13: Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings, 7:30 PM
- Sunday, May 14: Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, 3:30 PM
- Sunday, 14: Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders, 7:30 PM
Barring Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans and now Mumbai Indians, the other 7 teams face a nervous weekend ahead as far as the IPL 2023 playoffs are concerned. Losses in their previous games have put Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders at a massive disadvantage. A defeat over the weekend and both will be knocked out of contention for a top 4 finish.
Should both DC and KKR win, they will still need other results to go in their favour. With Sunrisers Hyderabad in action against LSG earlier, the Orange Army’s win boosts the qualification hopes of both DC and KKR. SRH themselves will need to win to remain in contention. A loss against Krunal Pandya-led Lucknow will see them join DC and KKR, needing other teams to boost their playoff hopes.

Punjab Kings, like SRH, can get to 16 points should they win their remaining games. A win for them knocks Delhi Capitals out but increases their chances of making the top 4. A defeat almost knocks both themselves and DC out, joining the 14-point potential group. LSG will still remain alive despite the defeat. They can get a maximum of 15 possible due to their abandoned game vs CSK.
On Sunday, the battle Royale will make or break the playoffs race. Both RCB and RR can get to a maximum of 16 points. The team that loses can only get to 14 points. Should Delhi and KKR win and SRH loses, there will be a 5-way tie for teams that can finish with 14 points. Punjab Kings and the loser of the RR vs RCB will end up in the mid-table muddle. Teams will be then be hoping for results and NRR to go their way to finish in the playoffs.
