“Kyle has seen a back surgeon and is getting surgery later in the week,” New Zealand head coach Gary Stead confirmed as per CricBuzz.
“It’s been a challenging and difficult time for Kyle and a big loss for us. He has been fantastic when he has been around all of our sides when he has been part of them.”
The big pacer’s setback is a recurrence of a previous back problem that he sustained during the England tour last year.
Before to the current Test series, he recovered in the domestic circuit and even participated in a warm-up game against England in Hamilton. But, he was sidelined after scans revealed the injury.
Jamieson will be unable to participate in New Zealand’s home series against Sri Lanka in March–April, the team’s trip to Pakistan in April–May, or the 2023 Indian Premier League season after being acquired by Chennai Super Kings for INR 1 Crore.
