IPL 2023 Auction: Revealed – Top Teams number 1 Target going into the Auction: Check Out
IPL 2023 Auction- Sunrisers Hyderabad – 42.25 cr.
- Punjab Kings – 32.20cr.
- Lucknow Supergiants – 23.35cr.
- Mumbai Indians – 20.55cr.
- Chennai Super Kings – 20.45cr.
- Delhi Capitals- 19.45cr
- Gujarat Titans – 19.25cr.
- Rajasthan Royals – 13.20cr.
- Royal Challengers Bangalore – 8.75cr.
- Kolkata Knight Riders – 7.05cr.
1. Ben Stokes (SRH)
In IPL 2021, Rajasthan Royals were paying Stokes around INR 9 crore as his salary. However, the star all-rounder is expected to fetch more than that in the upcoming IPL mini auction. With SRH having the highest purse remaining, it’s a no-brainer that they are likely to go big for Stokes. The Orange Army might also be tempted to hand over the leadership role to Stokes in the upcoming edition.
2. Sam Curran (PBKS)
Prior to the upcoming season, Punjab Kings released West Indies all-rounder Odean Smith, and they also have a spot open for an international bowling all-rounder. Sam Curran has also previously played for the Punjab Kings, having only played for the Mohali-based team to begin his IPL career. The Kings from Punjab have the financial clout to defeat the competition and re-sign their former player with INR 32.20 crore in the bank.
3. Cameron Green (DC)
Several IPL franchises are going to go bonkers over Cameron Green, who is expected to enter his first IPL auction as one of the hottest commodities. However, the Capitals, who have a decent amount of INR 19.45 crore left in their purse, might want to target him. Green made a name for himself in the shortest format when he opened for Australia against India and smashed 61 off 30 balls in Mohali and 52 of 21 in Hyderabad to gain the eyeballs of fans and IPL franchises.
4. Mayank Agarwal (LSG)
The Super Giants did not have a solid number three during their fourth finish in IPL 2022 season. They tried as many as six players at three, but none could get going. Mayank Agrawal can be their best bet in the IPL mini-auction. He can bat aggressively, as well as drop anchor when either of the openers KL Rahul or Quinton de Kock fails at the top. Agarwal had a dismal season in IPL 2022 with PBKS, and the veteran will be keen to prove a point.
5. Manish Pandey (GT)
The defending champion Gujarat Titans require a solid Number 3 batter, and Manish Pandey might be the one they are looking for. GT can send him to bat at number three and set the platform for the likes of David Miller and Hardik Pandya to go bonkers towards the death overs.
6. Shivam Mavi (MI)
The Mumbai Indians (MI) were the only other team that fought for Shivam Mavi in the IPL 2018 auction. Mavi hasn’t disappointed since then and has matured into a threatening bowler. Mumbai Indians will look for an able bowler to accompany Jasprit Bumrah over the next few seasons and thus might resort to Shivam Mavi for the job.
7. Jason Holder (RR)
The finalists of the 2022 Edition, RR, might want to target Jason Holder in the upcoming auction. To note, the Jaipur-based franchise released all-rounder James Neesham ahead of the upcoming mini-auction. As a result, they might be targeting a like-to-like replacement. Holder can be quite deadly with the new ball, and he can certainly clear the boundary with the bat in the death overs.
8. Narayan Jagadeesan (KKR)
The Kolkata Knight Riders had a horrid campaign in IPL 2022, winning just six of their 14 games and finishing in the seventh spot. The two-time champions kept Sheldon Jackson as their starting option in the first games of the season. Jackson played five games in the 2022 season and could score a mere 23 runs at a strike rate of 88.46.
The Kolkata franchise has released a total of 16 players ahead of the next season, which includes both Jackson and Indrajith. To note, KKR does not have any Indian keepers in the team, and the two-time IPL champions would certainly go fishing for a couple of good wicketkeeper batters at the IPL 2023 player auction. As a result, Jagadeesan will be a top priority for the Men in Purple and Gold in the upcoming auction.
9. Reece Topley (RCB)
Reece Topley has been the star white-ball performer with the ball for England in 2022. Whether it’s his bounce or accuracy with lines and lengths, Topley can move the ball both ways, and his height has helped him bowl well at the death. Topley could be a perfect foil for someone like Harshal Patel in the RCB line-up.
10. Kane Williamson (CSK)
The CSK team management might want to bag the services of New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson and hand over the captaincy to him once Dhoni retires from the IPL. To note, CSK has INR 20.45 crore in its kitty, and the Yellow Army might need to spend a decent chunk of that amount to grab Williamson in the auction. It remains to be seen if Williamson will don the yellow jersey in the upcoming season.
