IPL 2023 Auction: IPL Auction Tie-breaker Rule: BCCI has reintroduced a rule for mini-auction 2023. With many franchises running on low funds, BCCI has brought back the tie-breaker rule. If two or more franchises are running out of funds and their final bid is tied, there will be a tie-breaker. In this, the player will be sold at the final bid amount. But the tied teams will have to submit a written silent bid. The bidder with a higher price will get the player. The IPL Auction 2023 is on Friday in Kochi. What is Tie-Breaker Rule in IPL Auction?
- If a franchisee makes a final bid and can no longer make any further for the player and are tied with other franchises, the auctioneer will sell the player at the last bid price.
- In such a scenario, BCCI will invoke a tie-breaker rule to determine which franchise will sign the player.
- BCCI will invite each franchisee who are tied to submit a silent written bid on a form.
- The highest bidder in silent bid wins.
- However, it is BCCI who will receive the money of the silent bid.
- The silent bid will not be deducted from the salary cap.
“The Tiebreak Bid will indicate the amount, payable in one instalment that the franchisee is prepared to pay to BCCI. The amount of the Tiebreak Bid is separate from and in addition to the amount of the Last Bid. The Tiebreak Bid is the separate amount, which the Franchisee is prepared to pay to BCCI and is not deducted from the relevant Franchisee’s Salary Cap. There is no limit on the amount of the Tiebreak Bid,” BCCI told franchises in the auction brief.
