IPL 2023: Sunil Narine – KKR spinner Sunil Narine picked up seven wickets without giving a run in seven overs ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. Narine would not have played for Queen’s Park Club I if his flight to India had not got delayed. The off-spinner used his spare time playing cricket and demolished Clarke Road United at Queen’s Park Oval with a stunning spell of spin bowling. Clarke Road United did not have any answers to the KKR spinner’s masterclass and were bundled out for just 76 in 24 overs. With this devastating spell of bowling, Narine has sent shockwaves to teams ahead of the IPL. Follow IPL 2023 Live Updates with InsideSport.IN.
IPL 2023: Massive boost for KKR as Narine gears for IPL 2023 with a seven-wicket haul
Narine is one of the top players in the KKR team. Season after season, the off-spinner manages to put in
a good performance and help KKR perform well in IPL. However, in IPL 2022, the West Indian player had a mediocre season, picking up just nine wickets. This season, Narine would be aiming to perform well, and help the team win its third title. The all-rounder is in good form as he picked up seven wickets playing in a club game. KKR kick off the IPL 2023 campaign by playing against PBKS on April 1. Regular skipper Shreyas Iyer will miss a few games of IPL owing to a shoulder injury.
KKR Captaincy: Sunil Narine contender to lead KKR in absence of Shreyas Iyer
Narine is one of the contenders to lead KKR in the IPL 2023 season. Apart from Narine, Andre Russell and Nitish Rana are also in contention to fill in as skipper in Shreyas Iyer’s absence. Russell has previously led the CPL and is considered an influential figure in the KKR camp. The West Indian all-rounder is expected to feature in all games when fit and makes a good backup captaincy choice.
Rana has been at KKR since 2018 and has developed into one of their mainstays. Should the two-time champions be adamant on selecting an Indian skipper, Rana could very well make the cut.
