IPL 2023: Sanju Samson – While Rajasthan Royals (RR) won a thrilling match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) yesterday in the Indian Premier League (IPL), RR skipper Sanju Samson was fined for maintaining a slow over-rate. After Faf du Plessis, Samson became the second skipper to breach IPL’s code of conduct. Since it was the first over-rate offence for RR in the IPL 2023 season, Samson was fined 12 lakhs rupees. If this happens for the second time, the RR skipper will be banned for one game. Follow IPL 2023 Live Updates with InsideSport.IN
RR were found behind the over rate after the last over bowled by Sandeep Sharma. In the match against CSK, RR bowlers were guilty of bowling too many wides and no balls. After considering all the breaks the match officials found Samson short by a few overs. This is not the first time in IPL that Samson has been fined for maintaining a slow over rate. The RR wicketkeeper also was fined during IPL 2021 two times.
IPL 2023: Rajasthan Royals breach Fortress Chepauk, win a thriller against CSK by three runs
Speaking about the match, the Royals finally managed to breach fortress Chepauk after winning the match in the 2008 edition of IPL. Since then, RR have played six games and could not beat CSK in each of the six attempts. Apart from RR in recent times, only MI have managed to breach Fortress Chepauk four times. Chasing 176 to win, MS Dhoni-led CSK fell short by three runs. Finisher Dhoni could not finish things off for the team as Sandeep Sharma held his nerve well in the last over.
RR spinners turned the game as Adam Zampa, Ashwin, and Chahal gave only 95 runs in 12 overs and picked up five wickets. CSK spinners were a tad bit expensive as they gave away 84 runs in ten overs. On account of this win against CSK, the Royals have moved up the points table.
