IPL 2022: Yuvraj Singh STUNNED by KKR’s Pat Cummins’ AXE, check 5 shocking & stunning decisions of IPL 2022
IPL 2022: Besides Cummins, there are quite a few decisions in the ongoing IPL by various teams that have left the viewers baffled.
Here at InsideSport, we take a look at five such shocking decisions of IPL 2022
- Pat Cummins’s omission from the KKR team
Star KKR all-rounder Pat Cummins came into IPL with a phenomenal form. He took 21 wickets in the Test series in Pakistan and also was sharp with his captaincy moves. Cummins also displayed his scintillating form with the bat in hand when he scored IPL’s second-joint fastest fifty against MI. Things though quickly went downhill for Cummins in the next three matches.
He only picked three wickets in three games and was taken to the cleaners. The all-rounder’s economy rate was 12 runs per over and KKR management felt it was time to drop him. This decision left people in disbelief as Cummins is a game-changer with bat and ball.

- Rishabh Pant no-ball controversy
Arguably the biggest and most shocking moment of IPL 2022. DC skipper Rishabh Pant and co were infuriated with on-field umpires when a waist-height full toss was not called no-ball. The incident occurred during DC’s final over of run-chase against RR. Pant was fuming in anger and indicated to his batters to not play out the remaining two balls. He also sent Pravin Amre to the field to speak to umpires about the issue.

DC could not do much as the umpires did not call it a no-ball. They eventfully lost the game and Pant and Amre were fined for their misconduct.
- Jaydev Undkat of MI bowling 20th over to Dhoni
MI had to defend 17 runs in the last over against the ultimate finisher MS Dhoni. Normally, teams would trust their most dependable bowler to bowl the 20th over. MI skipper Rohit Sharma though went with Jaydev Unadkat as he felt his slower balls could flummox Dhoni.
Once a finisher, always a finisher. Hard luck Mumbai.

It was not to be as the finisher shattered MI’s hopes of their first win in IPL 2022. Undkat completely lost the plot as Dhoni smashed 17 runs to win a thriller for CSK.
- MI persisting with Kieron Pollard after multiple failures
MI all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been an utter flop with bat and ball. He has scored just 115 runs and picked up just three wickets in 8 games. Pollard has failed to finish games and his strike rate of 127.78 has cut a sorry figure. MI though have kept backing him which is very shocking. They have designated finisher Tim David and they could brought him considering Pollard’s form.
“I don’t know whether Mumbai Indians ever think of Pollard being dispensable,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on ESPNCricinfo.
“If he is not bowling and continuing only to bat finally, I think they got to look at the scores and the contributions of Pollard,” he added
5. Vijay Shankar at number three for GT
GT all-rounder Vijay Shankar walking in at number three raised quite a few eyebrows. First up he was woefully out of form and second he is not good at rotating strike initially. GT though felt it otherwise and tried Shankar at the crucial number three position. The move completely backfired as he score just 19 runs in four games.
Vijay Shankar asked teams to let him bat at 3 in an interview months back and GT took him seriously.
