He joined the PBKS squad in 2019 and supervised things with other support staff. Jaffer was roped in as the batting coach by the franchise due to the huge amount of experience playing for India and Ranji cricket. The 43-year-old worked closely with Anil Kumble, director of PBKS, Damien Wright, and Jonty Rhodes, bowling and fielding coaches respectively. The former India opener worked with these stalwarts of the game and strived to make PBKS a strong side.

Just days ahead of IPL mega auction, Jaffer called it quits by posting a funny meme. In his parting note, he thanked Kumble and PBKS. Adios, and thank you @PunjabKingsIPL, it’s been a pleasure. Wishing @anilkumble1074 and the team the very best for #IPL2022,” Jaffer tweeted.

Punjab Kings gearing for mega auctions

IPL 2022: Earlier, the PBKS had retained only Mayank Agarwal (12 crores) and Arshdeep Singh (4 crores) ahead of the mega auction. They will enter the mega auction with 72 crores. They let go of KL Rahul, who led the side for two years. It was also reported that the franchise wanted to retain Rahul, but the opening batter wanted to move on.

The PBKS have not yet announced their captain for the IPL 2022. The IPL mega auction will take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.
