IPL 2022 – IPL Title Sponsorship: In a major development in the Indian Premier League, VIVO has pulled as the title sponsor of the league. It is worth noting that IPL 2022 will now be called TATA IPL and the BCCI will earn same amount of 440 Crore from the transfer of rights.
“VIVO requested us for the transfer of rights and the Governing Council has approved it”, IPL Governing Council Chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed the development.

IPL Title Sponsorship: VIVO had bought the title sponsorship for IPL in 2018 for 440 Crore per annum. The deal was suspended in IPL 2020 season due to the India-China border standoff.
Vivo had won the IPL title sponsorship rights for five years from 2018 to 2022 for a reported sum of Rs 2,190 crore. The leading smartphone brand made a comeback in IPL 2021 but again has decided to pull out.
The brand has now transferred the rights to TATA & the IPL according to the sources will now be called TATA IPL.
Dream11 had been the IPL title sponsors for the 2020 edition, winning the rights for Rs 222 crore. The matches were played in the UAE in view of the pandemic.

Indian Premier League’s (IPL) two new teams — Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG Group for the Lucknow franchise and CVC Capital’s Ahmedabad team on Tuesday received the formal clearance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The formal clearance was given after a meeting of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council on Tuesday and both Ahmedabad and Lucknow have also been given a time frame for player signing before the mega auction takes place.
Meanwhile the IPL GC also confirmed that the dates & venue for the mega auction. The auction as reported earlier will be in Bangalore on February 12 and 13.
