IPL 2022- Tom Curran joins half a dozen players in England’s injury list- Star pacer Tom Curran has been added to England’s long injury list in Ashes & overall. He is set to miss the start of 2022 after an injury that he sustained while playing for Sydney Sixers in the BBL. The scans have confirmed that Tom Curran has a stress fracture of the back that rules him out of the 2022 domestic season. - Tom, who has been a regular in the England white-ball squads in recent years and has played 28 one-day internationals and 30 T20s.
- Earlier his younger brother Sam Curran had served a similar injury that ruled him out of the World Cup & Ashes last summer.
- He had suffered a lower back injury while playing for CSK in IPL 2021 last October.
- Curran has taken 13 wickets in an equal number of matches. Delhi Capitals had bought him for a hefty Rs 5.25 crore in IPL 2021.
- Tom will now undergo rehabilitation under the guidance of Surrey staff. He is likely to return in late May and as a result, misses out upcoming IPL 2022 season. The Surrey bowler will not be fit before the start of the T20 Blast
In addition to the Curran brothers, Jofra Archer is undergoing rehab after he underwent the knife owing to a right elbow issue.
Meanwhile, a number of England players have been ruled out of the upcoming Ashes Hobart Test. Jos Buttler is ruled out of the fifth and final Ashes Test after sustaining a blow on his hand. Allrounder Ben Stokes has suffered a side strain while bowling in Sydney. Mark Wood has reportedly damaged his left foot when he was lbw out to a Pat Cummins yorker.
