DC were unsure if Nortje could participate in IPL as it was unclear CSA medical team will give him clearance. The pacer did not bowl since November and DC were waiting anxiously for their star player’s availability.
However, Nortje has got a conditional all-clear from the South Africa medical team and only if DC medical staff clears him, he will be in action. Nortje last played in the T20 World Cup and has been out of action since then.
He is yet to return to bowling action and it is unlikely that he would be available for DC in the opening half of IPL 2022. Nortje was retained by DC for Rs 6.5 Cr.
