Robin Uthappa, who joined CSK last year was picked by the franchise once again in the mega auction at his base price of 2 crores. While he was trilled that the franchise bought him and few others players back in the auction, he however felt bad for the franchise not being able to get players like Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina and Shardul Thakur.

“When I saw so many of us back, it felt really really good. But on the flip side of the coin, you feel really bad as we missed out guys like Faf (Du Plessis), Shardul (Thakur) and Suresh (Raina) as well. “
Uthappa, who has played with Suresh Raina right from his Under-19 days, particularly felt bad for him as he was not picked up by the franchise. “I’ve played with Suresh. We have grown up together. We have played a lot of our cricket together. For me there is a heavy feeling in my heart that doesn’t go away at the moment.”

CSK ignored him on account of his age & form. The southpaw played 12 matches and only scored 160 runs at an average of 17.77 last season. Raina has however been one of the pillars for CSK over the seasons. He has scored 5528 runs in 205 matches and is the fourth-highest run-getter in IPL history. 4687 of those runs were scored for Chennai in his 11 year association with the franchise.
Chennai Super Kings are the defending champions, having won their fourth title last year. They will kickstart the upcoming season on 26th March at Wankede Stadium in Mumbai against last year’s runner-up Kolkata Knight Riders.
