In an interview with CSK, the 36-year-old revealed how his family has formed a special bond with the franchise over the years and how ecstatic his wife and his son were after the Yellow Army bought him for INR 2 crore in the IPL 2022 auction.

“It does not matter how much money (I go for). I pray I go back to CSK and I’m so grateful to God that I’m back with CSK. Neil was super happy,” said Uthappa. He was then joined by his son, Neale, who said “I am happy for CSK every time.”

The two-time IPL-winning player further added “When I was at practice, Sheets (Sheethal Goutham Uthappa, his wife) told me that Neil said a pray saying that please let dada go back to CSK and his players came true. So, he is really happy and excited about being there with the other kids and having fun with them and being a part of the franchise. He has had a lot of fun (last season), I think it is the most fun he has had in an IPL season.” Uthappa played a crucial role in CSK’s title triumph last season, as he scored 115 runs in four matches.
