The incident took place in the 11th over of the innings. Ferguson bowled a length ball in the fourth delivery of the over. Williamson was beaten by that delivery which was bowled at a pace of 144.7 kph. It bounced off the surface and missed Matthew Wade’s hand, hitting him right on the chest.
The Australian looked taken aback with the hit and winced in pain but luckily it was not a big injury as he continued playing. Before that over, Ferguson conceded 15 runs in his first over with Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Abhishek Sharma smashing him for three consecutive boundaries in the over.
The New Zealand speedster however made a good comeback in his second over, by conceding just three runs. Gujarat Titans are defending a total of 162 and are looking to extend their unbeaten streak, after having won three consecutive games this season.
