IPL 2022 Mega Auction: 5 players from current New Zealand who are likely to attract bidding wars – New Zealand had a fine 2021, winning the World Test Championship and reaching the final of the T20 World Cup last month. The Kiwis have emerged as one of the finest teams in world cricket across all formats, forming a strong core in international cricket. While New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, Jimmy Neesham, fast bowlers Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson and Tim Southee have all been part of the IPL previously, the Blackcaps have some new faces who could very well steal headlines with huge bids in the IPL 2022 mega auction. Devon Conway

Devon Conway has been one of the finds for New Zealand this year, with the left-hander being one of the batting mainstays across all formats for the Kiwis. An opener by trade, Conway slotted in the middle order during the T20 World Cup showcasing his ability to play spin and accelerate the scoring when needed. Devon Conway can also slot in as a makeshift wicket-keeper, and his versatility is likely to make him a desired pick in the auction.

Ajaz Patel

He might have made history in red-ball cricket, but Ajaz Patel’s heroics at the Wankhede will see IPL franchises take notice of his skills. The left-arm spinner took all 10 wickets in the first Innings of the 2nd test in Mumbai, becoming only the third bowler to do so in international cricket. Ajaz Patel has played seven T20Is picking up 11 wickets and could be in for a haul in the IPL 2022 mega auction in January.

Daryl Mitchell

Daryl Mitchell was converted into a makeshift opener for the T20 World Cup and the all-rounder starred helping the Kiwis reach the final. He scored a fine 49 against India, before a stunning 72 in the semi-final to knock out defending champions England in the semi-finals. His ability to play according to the situation is vital in T20 cricket and he provides an all-round option to teams with his medium-pace bowling.

Will Young

Will Young is another new generation batsman to emerge in the New Zealand team and his prowess was on display during the 1st Test against India in Kanpur. Young, who has been shuffled across the top order many times with New Zealand, is a batsman in the mould of Kane Williamson, and is an inning builder, and can be the glue to holding the side together. The 29-year-old has a strike-rate of 133.40 in T20 cricket and is likely to be on the radar of many IPL franchises.

Tim Seifert

Tim Seifert is not a stranger to the IPL but the New Zealand wicketkeeper had little chance to prove his worth with the Kolkata Knight Riders. With the addition of two new teams, Seifert might see his stocks rise with the Kiwi star being a hard-hitting batsman, capable of both beginning and finishing at the back end of an innings. He has a strike rate of 129.82 in T20Is and will have suitors in the IPL auction.
