Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav is all set to make his return to competitive cricket after undergoing a knee surgery last September. Once considered as India’s first-choice spinner, the chinaman bowler fell out of favour from both the Indian team and his former IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders in the last two years. He played only 4 games in IPL 2021 and didn’t play a single game in the last season.

The 28-year old was duly released from KKR ahead of the auction this year. He has made his comeback to the Indian team for the West Indies series and would look to make a mark with his bowling. All he needs to do is pick wickets in the middle overs and contain the run-flow. Possessing skills that not many spinners in India have, Kuldeep can be an asset to any team in the shortest format.

Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar

The 22-year old off-spinning all-rounder has been performing consistently with the white-ball and has been a regular in the Indian team for the last few years. One of his main positives is his ability to bowl in the power-play and restrict the run-flow. He can also pick wickets at regular intervals and has done a good job for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last three years. However, he is touted to be an all-rounder but hasn’t fired with the bat in the shortest format so far. Against West Indies in the upcoming series, apart from a good show with the ball, he also needs to showcase his abilities with the bat in order to attract huge bids.

Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh Krishna rose to prominence after playing the IPL. The tall and lanky pacer from Karnataka played for Kolkata Knight Riders and has impressed with his ability to seam and swing the ball and pick wickets. However, his economy rate has been a concern and had a tough time in the league last year. He played 10 games and was dropped for the later half of the tournament due to his inability to contain the run flow. Parasidh, who is not part of India’s T20 squad, should make optimum use of the upcoming ODIs to ensure he does not leak as many runs, if he wants to be picked for a good sum in the auction.

Deepak Hooda

Deepak Hooda

Deepak Hooda who is known to be a hard-hitter struggled to showcase his potential in the IPL for the last several years. Playing for Punjab Kings in the IPL, he showed glimpses of his ability in few games, but was inconsistent. After playing for Baroda all these years, he shifted to Rajasthan this season and roared back to form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy,  as he became the second highest run-getter in the tournament, amassing 294 runs in six games. His good form has earned him a call-up to the India’s ODI squad and if given a chance, he has to make full use of it and continue his form with the bat in order to attract IPL teams.

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer, who led Delhi Capitals to their first-ever IPL final in 2020, now finds himself in the mega auction. Teams that are looking for captains like RCB, KKR and PBKS would certainly target Iyer but his recent form with the bat, especially while playing for India hasn’t been that good. In the last six innings, his highest score has been 26 and in the upcoming series against West Indies, he is in a desperate need to perform well with the bat.

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan has been a consistent performer in the IPL. In the last three seasons, playing for Delhi Capitals, the opener has amassed more than 500 runs every season and even became the first batsman to score back-to-back tons in the IPL. Heading into the IPL 2022, the 35-year old will be on the list of many franchises. The southpaw has been in the best batting form and despite getting dropped from the Indian team during the T20 World Cup, he performed well in the ODI series against South Africa slamming two half-centuries. He must look to continue his fine run with the bat in the upcoming season as well to attract big bids at the auction.

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur has been the most improved Indian cricketer in the last few years, the right-arm pacer , who played for Chennai Super Kings since 2018, always carried criticism for leaking too many runs in the IPL. But he has improved his bowling as well as batting considerably over the last year and half as he has been giving important breakthroughs and is also showcasing his skills with the bat. In the series against South Africa, he scored his maiden ODI fifty and also chipped in with an unbeaten 40 in the next match. However his performance with the ball was not up to the mark. He conceded 72 runs in his 10 overs without a wicket in the first ODI and he was dropped in the third ODI. He will look to improve his bowling considerably in the upcoming series.
