IPL 2022: KL Rahul to reunite Andy Flower – Behind KL Rahul’s rapid rise in T20 cricket, one can also credit former Zimbabwe great Andy Flower. At Punjab Kings, he worked tirelessly with KL Rahul, making him the powerhouse of white-ball cricket. After leaving Punjab, the two will be reunited at the Lucknow franchise as Flower was named head coach, barring an official announcement.
While InsideSport already reported the development, the announcement was made only on Friday. The reason? BCCI instructed the Lucknow franchise to not make any official announcements due to pending issues with the CVC-backed Ahmedabad franchise.

However, the RPSG group received special permission to make the announcement on Friday. However, to announce KL Rahul as their captain, the Lucknow franchise will have to wait longer than expected.
“As a player and a coach, Andy has left an indelible mark in the history of cricket. We respect his professionalism and hope he will work with our vision and add value to our team,” RPSG chief Sanjeev Goenka tweeted.

Andy Flower joined Punjab Kings in 2020 with KL Rahul working closely with him as the captain of the franchise. During these two years, KL Rahul bagged the Orange Cap in IPL 2020 and missed the Orange Cap by a whisker in IPL 2021. However, with the lack of success, Rahul decided to part ways amid allegations of player poaching.
Now, the KL Rahul-Andy Flower success story is likely to continue in Lucknow.
