IPL 2022: It’s FINAL, Faf Du Plessis will be named as NEW-CAPTAIN of Royal Challengers Bangalore, announcement coming soon
After wrapping up IPL 2022 auctions, RCB had three options in Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik. However, amongst the three, Faf has been a renowned name in captaincy having led South Africa successfully across all three formats.
IPL 2022: Why Faf du Plessis looks ideal choice for RCB captaincy?
- Faf is the only option after Virat Kohli with captaincy experience in international cricket.
- A prolific in-form opener, Faf du Plessis will be one of the first names on the team sheet.
- Having retired from international cricket, he will also be available for the entire duration of IPL 2022.
- The other option was Glenn Maxwell who was considered at first but he will be unavailable in the first few matches. The Australian will be only available from March 12 after serving five-day quarantine following the Pakistan tour.
- Dinesh Karthik was the other option especially due to his inputs from behind the stumps. But under his leadership, KKR struggled and he stepped down midway through the season in IPL 2020.
