IPL 2022 – IPL Mega Auction Dates: The IPL Governing Council (GC) in its meeting on Sunday formally ratified MEGA-AUCTION dates. As reported earlier, the IPL Auctions will take place in Bengaluru for two days & will be held on February 12th & 13th.  – Follow IPL 2022 LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN

The GC also studied the report submitted by the BCCI appointed legal committee on CVC Capital’s acquisition of the Ahmedabad franchise. As reported by InsideSport, the IPL GC is set to give GREEN-SIGNAL to the ownership of CVC for 10th IPL Team.

Major Discussions & Decisions at IPL Governing Council Meeting

  • IPL 2022 Mega Auction Dates & Venue: IPL GC ratified the decision that IPL Auctions will take place on Feb 12th & 13th in Bengaluru. The IPL GC will officially announce the dates now.
  • CVC Ownership of Ahmedabad Franchsie: The IPL GC discussed, studied the report  submitted by the legal committee on CVC Ownership of Ahmedabad franchise. The committee headed by Justice KS Radhakrishnan, a retired judge of the Supreme Court,  has cleared the American company’s participation in the league. Now BCCI will announce the decision.
  • Lucknow / Ahmedabad Player Signing Deadline: The IPL GC also discussed the new deadlines for the new IPL Franchises to finalize their before the auction signings. BCCI had given time up to December 25 for the new teams to submit their list of players signed outside the auction. Now that the deadline is over, a new timeline is being deliberated on. The new timeline will be announced right after the announcement pertaining to ownership of the Ahmedabad franchise.

IPL Media Rights Tender: When will IPL Media Tender be released?

The BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has recently declared that the IPL Media Rights tender will be conducted soon. The tender for the potential bidders will be released before January but the firm dateline still could not be ascertained at IPL GC Meeting.

Ganguly recently said that tender should easily fetch more than 40,000 Crores for the Indian cricket. 

“12,000 Crore for sale of two franchises was phenomenal. Fingers crossed, we should get 40,000 crore plus from the IPL Media Rights. The tenders will be conducted soon by the BCCI”, declared BCCI President.

According to the information available with InsideSport, BCCI has internally decided that the e-auction will ensure better price discovery. The new cycle of rights will be auctioned for 5 year period i.e 2023 to 2027.

But now with KPMG coming on board, BCCI & IPL GC has asked the consultants to provide the e-auction feasibility & utitlity report.

Who can potentially bid for the Rights? The incumbent Disney Star Network, Sony, Reliance Viacom 18 and Amazon Prime Video are likely to vie for the IPL Media Rights.
