IPL 2022: Imran Tahir ready to make a comeback to the South African T20 team – Imran Tahir, the star Proteas spinner has revealed that he is fit enough to take an active part in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022 scheduled to take place in Australia. Tahir’s comments bank on his impressive performances in domestic T20 performances that he has been a part of recently. Follow Live updates on InsideSport.IN

Despite being snubbed for the South African team in the previous T20 world cup 2021, the 42-year-old spinner hopes his recent performance and form will impress the selectors of the South African cricket team to reinstate his spot in the team.

Currently playing in the Pakistan Super League aka PSL 2022, Tahir in an interview with Geo News said, “I am still available for selection in T20Is. I believe I am fit enough to play in the T20 World Cup [in Australia]. I hope that selectors will consider my performances around the world. If they do, I am sure they’ll find me a deserving candidate.”

 

Imran Tahir’s performances in domestic cricket all over the world have caught the attention of the 10 IPL franchise teams. Initially thought to go unsold in IPL 2022 Mega Auction, these recent performances will make the teams reconsider their decision of excluding him from the team’s roster. 


Tahir’s last appearance for his nation came in 2019 in the ICC World Cup held in England. The star spinner made his debut in International cricket in 2011 and has featured in 20 test matches, 107 ODIs, 38 T20Is, and aims to carry on.

Tahir who is born in Pakistan and has played his initial cricket for the country before moving to South Africa to build a career in cricket felt strange when he is considered as an overseas player in Pakistan. He said, “It is a strange feeling that I am an overseas player for Pakistan where I was born and even played my initial cricket, but I am also thankful to South Africa that they gave me a chance to reach my dreams and prove myself in international cricket.”

 

Tahir has played in the U-19 category for Pakistan along with some domestic games and Pakistan A matches. After being constantly overlooked by the selectors he made a shift and moved to South Africa where his career took a splendid turn.
