Earlier, reports emerged that terrorists conducted a recce of IPL teams, players and the route from hotel to stadium. The Mumbai ATS (Anti Terrorist Squad) apparently arrested a terrorist and received the intel. The ATS promptly informed the BCCI and the players have been provided extra security.

IPL 2022: CSK vs KKR Security Threat: As per reports, after arresting the unnamed terrorists, Mumbai ATS conducted a thorough recce to check security arrangements at the hotels and stadiums. The arrested terrorists allegedly conducted reconnaissance missions at Wankhede Stadium, Triden hotel at Nariman Point and the route from the hotel to the stadium.

IPL 2022: Special security arrangements for IPL
- The Mumbai Police have increased security around players, hotels and stadiums following the terror alert.
- The route from hotels to stadiums will have heightened security and para-military forces present.
- A special escort will be provided for the team buses en route stadium and hotel.
- Apart from players, umpires, match officials will also be provided with additional security.
- Mumbai Police have banned car/vehicle parking on the route to the stadiums and hotels.
- Bomb squad, Quick Response Team and Reserve Police Force will be deployed during the tournament from March 26 to April 22.

Earlier, the BCCI had also sought additional security at the stadiums to prevent pitch invasion and breach bio-safety protocols.
“It was unfortunate but during Covid times, it is very important that we must avoid such pitch invasion. We will speak to the Maharashtra government and ask for additional security for the matches so that it doesn’t happen again. One such incident can jeopardise the entire tournament due to Covid,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

The league stage of the IPL 2022 will be conducted in Mumbai and Pune with 70 matches taking place in four venues. The entire tournament will take place in bio-safety bubble with 25% crowd presence.
