- 15 at Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) ground on the outskirts of Pune.
- BCCI has decided to delay the decision on the VENUE of IPL Playoffs. The venue of the playoffs & finals will be decided in next couple of days.
- IPL GC will also take few days to finalize the schedule of IPL 2022.
Other important decisions by IPL Governing Council
Women IPL during IPL 2022: The Women T20 Challenge will continue one more year. The IPL GC has decided that Women T20 Challenge matches will be played simultaneously with the IPL 2022 playoffs.
IPL GC also has also committed themselves to start women IPL by next year.
IPL 2022 Practice Venues for Teams: The Indian board has finalised MCA-BKC ground, DY Patil and Brabourne as venues for practice for ten IPL teams.
The board is looking to add a few more to the list.
It is expected that Thane’s Daddoji Kondev Stadium and MCA-Kandivali ground will also be used for IPL team practice sessions.

IPL 2022 Dates: A total of 55 matches will be spread over three venues in Mumbai. While Reliance Stadium was also in contention, the BCCI has locked in on Wankhede Stadium, DY Patil Stadium and CCI’s Brabourne Stadium.
Pune’s MCA Stadium will host rest of the 15 group stage matches.

Further, all teams are set to play four games each at the Wankhede, DY Patil Stadium and three apiece at Brabourne and Pune.
As reported by InsideSport earlier, the IPL 2022 will start on March 26 followed by a doubleheader on March 27 after a request from official broadcaster Star.
IPL Media Rights Tender: BCCI is also ready to release the much awaited IPL Media Rights Tender for 2023-27 cycle. The IPL GC today will ratify the tender document & the same will be released in the market in next 48-72 hours.
BCCI is expected to fetch amount above 40,000 Crore for the 5 years of media rights with media & ecommerce giants like Disney Star, Reliance, Amazon & Sony in fray.
All teams will play:
4 matches each at Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium.
3 matches each at Brabourne Stadium (CCI) and MCA International Stadium, Pune.
The 10 teams will play a total of 14 league matches (7 home matches and 7 away matches) totalling to 70 league matches, followed by the 4 playoff matches. Each team will play 5 teams twice and the remaining 4 teams only once (2 only home and 2 only away).
To decide on the above, teams have been assigned in two virtual groups based on the number of IPL Championships won followed by the number of Final matches played by the respective teams.

Each team will play twice with the teams in their group and with the team in the same row in the second group. With the rest of the teams in the second group they will play only once during the season.
For Example: In Group A, MI will play 2 matches each against KKR, RR, DC, LSG. MI will also play 2 matches against CSK and 1 match each against other teams in Group B.
Similarly, in Group B, RCB will play 2 matches against CSK, SRH, PBKS and GT. RCB will also play 2 matches against RR and 1 match each against other teams in Group A.
