Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians) – The most successful captain in the history of IPL has endured a tough time this around as his team has lost all six matches so far. Guiding MI to five titles is a big achievement for any captain but Rohit has failed in the current season both as a leader and individually. In six matches so far he has scored 114 runs from six games.

Ravindra Jadeja (Chennai Super Kings) – Ravindra Jadeja was handed over the reins at the start of the tournament and was seen as a successor to Dhoni, but he has failed to nail down a marker. In six matches, Jadeja’s solitary success came against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Like Rohit, Jadeja has also failed to make personal impression while CSK’s exploits off the field continue.

Mayank Agarwal (Punjab Kings) – The Punjab Kings management showed faith in Mayank Agarwal and opted to release KL Rahul, but the young leader has failed to materialize the early promise. The Mayank and his team have lost four games so far as they reside eighth in the table. Mayank is another player who has failed on personal terms as he scored little over 100 runs in the IPL 2022.

Insidesport

Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders) – A bright prospect, Shreyas Iyer endured a good start to life as captain; he has had good personal form challenging for the Orange Cap. However, his captaincy will be tested as KKR reside seventh in the table with six points and will have to work their way to reach the play-offs. Shreyas has been tipped as a future India skipper but will have to improve on the current form.

Rishabh Pant (Delhi Capitals) – Six points from six games is a good return for any leader as Rishabh Pant tries to make a case for himself. Rishabh is one player who is yet to fire in the tournament with the bat, but with presence of world class players and advices from Ricky Ponting will only make Rishabh a better player. A good run in the second half of the season can see him stamp his authority as a true leader.

Kane Williamson (Sunrisers Hyderabad) – Three defeats in three games at the start of the season was followed by four wins in four as Kane Williamson sees his side make the top four at half way point of the season. The New Zealand skipper has proven track record and was handed over the reins last season when David Warner was axed from the team, Kane will now be tasked to guide SRH to their first title since 2016.

KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants) – A player with leadership experience Rahul has excelled as player but when it comes to captaincy he has a mix record. Rahul has so far led LSG to four wins in seven matches, while he is also doing great on personal terms having amassed 265 runs in the IPL. However, the management will be concerned provided Rahul as he had a good personal record but poor record as leader during his time at Punjab Kings.

Insidesport

Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals) – Sanju Samson has been making a name for himself for quite a time now and the RR skipper has a calm and composed approach as a leader. In six matches so far, his side has lost only twice while gaining eight points and nailed on for a place in the top four. With eight points RR have done well to be amongst the mix, while Samson has shown his leadership skills during crunch times.
