“Captain Kieron Pollard misses out today as a precaution. He has a niggle, which the medical team has been working on for the past couple days,” West Indies cricket wrote on Twitter.
West Indies Playing XI: Shai Hope, Brandon King, Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks, Nicholas Pooran (c), Jason Holder, Odean Smith, Fabien Allen, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach.
- Kieron Pollard has earlier missed the West Indies Tour of Pakistan in December.
- He had also failed to play a T20I match against Bangladesh during the T20 World Cup. He did not take the field after walking off after being unable to deliver with the bat.
- The 34-year-old had undergone rehabilitation work in Trinidad ahead of the 5-match T20I series against England.
- Pollard has been retained for Rs 6 crore for IPL 2022 and MI will be hopeful of his services throughout the contest.
- He comes with an experience of 578 T20s with 11000+ runs and 300+ wickets in the shortest format.
