The Rohit Sharma led team is known to have a huge fanbase all over the globe and on Saturday, fans were seen performing special pujas outside the Brabourne Stadium ahead of the match against Lucknow Super Giants.
What was an interesting fact was that the fans were all from Uttar Pradesh, the state represented by LSG. “I’m from UP, but supporting Mumbai Indians against Lucknow Team,” read the banner in front of which the fans were seen praying with incense sticks.
While Mumbai Indians have lost five matches on the trot, Lucknow Super Giants led by KL Rahul won three matches out of the five games that they have played and are currently on the fifth spot on the points table.
The only hope remaining for Mumbai Indians is they were in a similar position in 2014 but managed to make it to the playoffs that year. The team will still look to get inspiration from that season and hope to win their remaining matches to seal a spot into the top four.
