IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals Covid Outbreak – Delhi Capitals have been dealt a further blow with some more Covid positive results in the camp. Tim Seifert is the latest player from DC camp to test positive in the RT-PCR test conducted on Wednesday morning. Following the Covid tests, PBKS vs RR match has also been shifted to Mumbai instead of Pune. The match on April 22 will now take place at the Wankhede Stadium.

“The entire Delhi Capitals contingent underwent 2 rounds of COVID testing today. Match No. 32 involving Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings scheduled today at Brabourne – CCI will go ahead as per the schedule after the second round of COVID tests returned negative today,” BCCI said in a statement.

When asked if the match will still go ahead, the official said, “Yes, the match will be played as scheduled with available players. As the protocol has been set, 12 players are required to go ahead with the match, we will follow that.”

  • Some more members of DC squad have returned positive in the latest RT-PCR test.
  • Amongst the new positive cases, Tim Seifert has also tested positive.
  • BCCI and the IPL GC took the decision in morning to shift the match to Mumbai as DC players are still locked in Quarantine and can’t travel to Pune.

Earlier on Monday evening DC had confirmed that Aussie all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19. Other than Marsh, 3 more positive tests have been reported from DC Camp.

  5. Mr Akash Mane – Social Media Content team member (tested positive on April 18th)
  6. Tim Seifert – Player – (tested positive on April 20)

Delhi Capitals Covid Outbreak: While there were rumours of rescheduling of the matches, BCCI has confirmed that the match will go on as scheduled.

“For a match to go on as per schedule, a franchise must have 12 players available including seven Indians. If 12 aren’t available, then the IPL technical committee will take a call,” an IPL official confirmed to PTI.

Delhi Capitals Confirms Mitchell Marsh Hospitalization

Delhi Capitals all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has tested positive for COVID-19, following which he has been admitted to a hospital. The Delhi Capitals medical team is closely monitoring Marsh’s condition,” Delhi Capitals wrote in a statement.

Apart from Marsh, two members of DC franchise and three Taj Mahal Palace hotel staff have tested positive. Team doctor Abhijit Salvi is among those who tested positive, with the other being DC’s masseur.

Regarding the other positive cases, DC said “A few more members from the Delhi Capitals bio-bubble, including support staff members, have returned positive tests as well. Though they are all asymptomatic, their condition is being monitored closely by the franchise. All remaining members of the bubble are currently in isolation in their respective rooms, and will be tested regularly.”

Earlier, Delhi Capitals physio Patrick Farhart had had been isolated after testing positive. Mitchell Marsh tested positive in the Rapid antigen test and the entire squad was put into isolation. A masseur with the team also tested positive in the more accurate RT-PCR test.

“DC were supposed to travel to Pune today but the entire squad members have been told to retire to their respective rooms and as per protocol RT PCR is being done to ascertain whether there is an outbreak in the camp or it is an isolated case like Patrick Farhart,” a BCCI source told PTI on Monday.
