IPL 2022 – CryptoCURRENCY companies to stay away: According to a report by ET, the decision to stay away from the IPL Advertising has been taken by the Blockchain and Crypto Assets Council (BACC).
“All the crypto exchanges have decided not to advertise in IPL,” Nischal Shetty, chief executive of crypto exchange WazirX told ET through a direct message on Twitter.
“As an industry, we are working to ensure we have strict guidelines for responsible advertisement before we get into IPL ads again. ”
Last year, CoinDCX, WazirX and CoinSwitch Kuber, as well as others, collectively spent around ₹90 crore on TV advertising for IPL. Another 15-20 Crore was spent on Digital advertising on Disney Hotstar.
Why Cryptocurrency Exchanges will stay away from IPL 2022? The huge noise the advertisement campaigns made during the IPL and T20 World Cup led to companies coming under scanner of regulators and government agencies.
The government is currently working on a Bill to regulate the cryptocurrency market & at this stage no one wants to take any chances.

The industry estimates say HOTSTAR is looking good to cross 600-650 Cr in IPL Advertising this year. This clearly means IPL 2022 will easily cross 5,000 in Advertising this year for Disney Star Network.

It is worth noting that the official IPL LIVE broadcaster garnered 3200 Cr in advertising revenues from IPL 2021. With increased rates, number of matches & 2 more teams, this year STAR SPORTS is on-target to cross 4,200-4,400 Crore advertising revenue mark.
