IPL 2022 Auction: Shahrukh Khan proves Punjab Kings wrong again, dazzles with 39-ball 79 against Karnataka
Shahrukh Khan has slammed two fifties in 5 innings for Tamil Nadu in the ongoing season so far, that too when it was needed the most. He has been a consistent performer for TN for the past couple of seasons in both the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy & Vijay Hazare Trophy.
- Shahrukh Khan has scored an unbeaten 79 off just 39 deliveries in the Vijay Hazare Quarterfinals against Karnataka
- He averages 48.50 in the ongoing season and has hit two fifties at a strike rate of 186.53
- His power-packed fifty against Mumbai in the group round propelled Tamil Nadu to 290 run target which the latter eventually won
- He was also the hero for Tamil Nadu in their recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy win earlier in November
Why selectors should give Shahrukh Khan a chance in the West Indies series
Talking about the bigger picture, Shahrukh Khan seems to be on the radar of the national selectors too. Though he is unlikely to be named in the ODI squad against South Africa, the right-hander can get a go in the white-ball home series against West Indies in February.
- West Indies will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20I in India from February 06
- Shahrukh Khan recent run in both one-dayers and T20s has been impressive
- Team India has still not found a ‘finisher-replacement’ for Hardik Pandya who has question marks on his fitness
- Though Venkatesh Iyer is a potential replacement for Hardik but the Madhya Pradesh opener is best suited on top of the order and not for the finishing role
- Shahrukh Khan seems perfect at the number 07 position and has won many games for Tamil Nadu playing as a finisher
IPL 2022 Auction: Shahrukh Khan proves Punjab Kings wrong again, dazzles with 39-ball 79 against Karnataka
Shahrukh Khan was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 5.25 crore in the mini-auction for the 14th edition. His base price at that time was Rs 20 lakh and Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore were interested in the uncapped player before Punjab Kings sealed the deal.
But the right-hander was released by Punjab Kings ahead of the 2022 edition and is now likely to fetch mega-price in the upcoming IPL 2022 mega auctions.
