IPL 2022 Auction: BCCI doesn’t want to leave anything to chance for the two-day Mega Auction on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. Amongst its strict Covid guidelines, BCCI has asked foreign coaches and franchise owners to quarantine for seven days while Indian franchise members must produce two mandatory negative RT-PCR Covid tests to attend the Mega Auction. The auction will take place in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13 from 12 PM with all the franchise members instructed to arrive in the city by February 11. All of the attendees will go through two RT-PCR tests 72 hours before the auction (Feb 12) before being allowed to be present in the auction.

Furthermore, BCCI has put a cap on the number of members who can attend the auctions. Only 10 members from a franchise will be allowed in the auction centre with no more than 80 people allowed in 10 tables.

IPL 2022 Auction: BCCI’s Covid guidelines

  • All franchises must send in the names of people who will be attending the auctions by February 4.
  • Only 80 people from all 10 franchises will be allowed to sit at the table inside the table.
  • Only 10 people per franchise can attend until the threshold of 80.
  • All members must arrive in Bengaluru by Feb 11 by 12 PM.
  • Foreign franchise members will have to quarantine for 7 days to be eligible for attending the auctions.
  • All attendees must take two Covid RT-PCR tests within 72 hours of the auction.
  • On February 12 and 13, all who will attend the auctions, will get two Covid tests — one at 12 AM and another at 7 AM.
  • All participants must share their vaccination/booster details with BCCI’s medical team.
  • All participants must wear a mask inside the auction centre at all times.

Meanwhile, BCCI released a shortlist of 590 players for the IPL 2022 Auction on Tuesday. Amongst them, 220 are overseas players while 370 are Indians. Of the registered players,  228 are capped players, 355 are uncapped players and 7 belong to Associate Nations.

The 10 IPL franchisees – Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Team Ahmedabad will also be bidding to have some of the biggest cricketing names – Faf du Plessis, David Warner, Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada, Trent Boult, Quinton de Kock, Jonny Bairstow, Jason Holder, Dwayne Bravo, Shakib Al Hasan, Wanindu Hasaranga, etc. – in their squad.
