According to the information available with InsideSport, Samson has decided to part ways with the franchise and doesn’t wish to be retained. According to the sources, wicketkeeper-batsman got upset about something and has already unfollowed the team’s official social media platforms.

InsideSport reached out both to the franchise as well as Samson himself. But both denied any comment on the development. Meanwhile, a source in RR management has this to say about the development.
“Even we don’t know why he has unfollowed. Our future was built around him. He was on the top of our retention list. We are also trying to figure it out,” a Rajasthan Royals source told InsideSport.

Since returning to the RR fold, Samson has scored 300+ runs every season. Despite yet another poor outing for the team, Samson top-scored with 484 runs.
In IPL 2021, he was tasked with leading the team after the franchise parted ways with Steve Smith. However, the fortunes didn’t change despite Sanju’s red-hot form as RR finished 7th.
Now, as stands, the flamboyant wicketkeeper-batsman is all set to leave after snubbing Rajasthan Royals’ calls. Sanju Samson unfollowed Rajasthan Royals on Instagram although the franchise made it a priority to retain him for the next season. The Royals captain has been a loyal player of the Royals and has led the team from the front. Samson has played 93 matches for RR scoring 2,391 runs including two centuries and 12 half-centuries.

Apart from improving as a batsman, he has also done well as a keeper in IPL 2021. This season, he had four stumping, more than any other keepers in the tournament.

IPL 2021 Retention Rules:
- Old Franchises will Name Retained Players by 30th November 2021, a maximum of 4 players can be retained. 3 Indians & maximum two foreigners
- New Franchises will get three free picks outside the auction pool.
- New teams to finalize their 3 players outside of auction between 1st December 2021 to 30th December 2021. Not more than 2 Indians & 1 foreigner.
- RTM Cards: There will also be no Right to Match (RTM) cards this time around.
