Ahmedabad – Ashish Nehra?
Former India fast bowler Ashish Nehra is likely to be appointed as the head coach of the Ahmedabad IPL franchise. But despite a verbal agreement, an official announcement can only be made in this regard once the owners get the GREEN-SIGNAL from the BCCI to operate the franchise. Nehra was earlier the bowling coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore where Gary Kirsten was also involved for a couple of seasons. Once it gets the green light from the BCCI, the franchise will go ahead and select a few assistant coaches.
Lucknow- Andy Flower
Former Zimbabwe captain and wicketkeeper Andy Flower will coach the Indian Premier League’s Lucknow franchise from the 2022 season onwards. Flower was with Punjab Kings for a couple of seasons. Meanwhile, Former India wicketkeeper-batsman Vijay Dahiya joins as the assistant coach and Gautam Gambhir has been named as the mentor of the Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG-owned franchise.
CSK – Stephen Fleming
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will continue with the services of Stephen Fleming after an amazing turnaround in IPL 2022. MS Dhoni & Co will look for another stint with New Zealand in their bid to win the record 5th IPL trophy.
RR – Kumar Sangakkara
Sri Lanka legend Kumar Sangakkara has been elevated as head coach from ‘Rajasthan Royals Director of Cricket’. RR will be hoping to end their 15-year IPL trophy drought after becoming champions in the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League.
DC – Ricky Ponting / Mohd Kaif
Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has been one of the reasons behind the Delhi Capitals success in the last few seasons. He will continue his stint as DC aims to win their maiden IPL trophy after making it to the IPL 2020 finals and topping the IPL 2021 table in the last two editions. Mohd Kaif has been a force to reckon with as DC have showcased their A-game on the field.
SRH – Tom Moody
Sunrisers Hyderabad have named former Sri Lanka head coach Tom Moody as their head coach for IPL 2022. He guided Sri Lanka to the finals of the 50-over World Cup in 20211. In a complete overhaul, Orange Army have also roped in the services of Dale Steyn, Murali Karthik, Simon Katich and Brian Lara. The above star are expected to change the fortunes of Kane Williamson & Co after SRH ended last in IPL 2021.
MI – Mahela Jayawardena
Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardena will be looking to add another feather to his cap after IPL 2021 ended in disappointment. MI will be looking for a record 6th IPL trophy.
RCB – Sanjay Bangar
RCB batting consultant Sanjay Bangar has been elevated as head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Virat Kohli’s side will be finally looking for a maiden IPL trophy.
KKR – Brendan McCullum
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will continue to work under New Zealand star Brendan McCullum after making it to the finals of IPL 2021. The season witnessed a wonderful comeback in the UAE leg of IPL 2021.
PBKS – Anil Kumble
Punjab Kings might have parted ways with KL Rahul but they are still hopeful of a turnaround featuring Anil Kumble. He hasn’t had much success with PBKS. Despite showing promise, PBKS failed to reach the playoff stage last season.
