Pat Cummins- KKR (Rs 15.5 crore)
All-rounder Pat Cummins is a vital part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise. His absence could hurt them since he leads the bowling department and is part of the core group along with Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik. He and his wife are expecting a child in September end.
“Unfortunately, at this stage, I probably won’t be going to the IPL. I haven’t made an official call on it. But my partner is pregnant and our baby is due in the middle of the IPL. At the moment, there is travel restriction getting back to Australia, you got to do 2 weeks quarantine,” Pat Cummins said.
Jhye Richardson (Rs 14 crore) & Riley Meredith (Rs 8 crore) – Punjab Kings
Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith are among two expensive players for Punjab Kings. They were roped in for Rs 14 crore and Rs 8 crore respectively. The absence of Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith could affect the death bowling of Punjab Kings. They need good backup bowlers to ensure they qualify for the playoffs.
“We tried convincing the players but they were not ready to come, we respect the decision. We are in talks with few players. Our head coach Anil Kumble will finalize one soon in the next 2-3 days. Nathan Allis already has been signed for the UAE leg,” Satish Menon, Punjab Kings CEO, told Insidesport.
