IPL 2021 Phase 2 – Will Faf Du Plessis be fit, why the South African star is important for CSK?

Du Plessis’ fitness will be of prime importance to CSK as the South African is a vital cog in MS Dhoni’s plans with the franchise. The 37-year-old, who opens the batting for the three-time champions has been supremely consistent for the franchise since their return in 2018 and enjoyed a purple patch during Phase 1.

In the seven games for CSK earlier this year, Du Plessis scored 320 runs at a strike rate of 145.45 and was the third-highest run-getter before the tournament was suspended due to the pandemic. One of the most experienced heads in the squad, the 37-year-old veteran is invaluable to the CSK set-up and will be hoping for a swift recovery.
