IPL 2021: Mumbai Indians’ Adam Milne eyes IPL 2021 to book a place in New Zealand’s T20 World Cup squad: New Zealand’s quick Adam Milne has his eyes set large on the prestigious ICC T20 World Cup scheduled in October-November. Despite playing just 2 T20Is in the past two years for New Zealand because of his injuries,  Milne wants to grab his place in the Black Caps squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. To fulfil the same, Milne has plans to duly play for Mumbai Indians (MI) for the second leg of IPL 2021 to be held in UAE.

New Zealand are to tour Bangladesh and Pakistan for the white ball series ahead of the T20 world cup. In case Milne isn’t able to make up to the squad in the overseas tour; he will try making the best use of the opportunity in IPL Phase 2 to secure his berth in T20 WC. In IPL Phase 1, however, Milne played just 1 match for MI where he bowled three overs. He neither bagged any wicket and was expensive as he returned with an economy of 11.

I’d obviously love to play more for New Zealand,” Milne told ESPNcricinfo. “I’ve had a lot of injuries over the last three years which has stopped me playing any cricket at all really, and you can’t play for New Zealand if you’re not playing any domestic cricket.

Milne had not been a regular face for the Kiwis because of his injuries. The Black Caps pacer underwent surgery on his left ankle twice. However, he is now seen in some regular cricketing action since the 2020-21 Big Bash League.

The 29-year-old is currently playing the ongoing The Hundred tournament. Being amongst the top four wicket-takers of the tournament and having scalped 7 wickets at an economy rate of 6.14, Milne has been quite impressive with the ball.
