IPL 2021 – KKR beat SRH: Faulty selection costs Sunrisers Hyderabad, fans ask why Kane Williamson was benched? David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday lost their opening match of IPL 2021 against Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). David Warner and SRH team management has come under the scanner after the loss. SRH experimented a lot in the contest with Kane Williamson left out of the playing XI. David Warner opened the batting with Wriddhiman Saha instead of Jonny Bairstow. Abdul Samad was not sent ahead of Mohammad Nabi and Vijay Shankar in the batting department. The team failed to complete a run chase of 188 runs at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The openers Warner and Wriddhiman Saha had a terrible start to the run chase after a failed performance by SRH pacers.

If you want to have a batsman at 4 ,then Kane Williamson was a better bet.

IPL 2021: Take a look at 3 big reasons why SRH lost the match against KKR.
– Why Kane Williamson on bench?
Sunrisers Hyderabad chose to play Mohammad Nabi over Kane Williamson in their opening match. The latter managed to rake two wickets with the ball but failed to replicate it in the batting department. Kane Williamson has scored 1600 runs in 53 matches at an average of nearly 40.
– David Warner – Jonny Bairstow – why they did not open?
The SRH team management sent in David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha at the top. The decision backfired as the duo got out cheaply. At No.3 Jonny Bairstow smacked 55 runs off 39 balls. Saha showed the right intent, he smashed a six in the very first over but perished off Shakib Al Hasan scoring just 7 runs.
– What role Abdul Samad is playing?
One of the promising youngster in the SRH, Abdul Samad could have been sent ahead of Mohammad Nabi (14) and Vijay Shankar (11) in the batting department. Abdul Samad scored 19 runs off just 8 deliveries that included a couple of sixes, but couldn’t take SRH over the line.
