IPL 2021 Phase 2: England players take revenge, three cricketers pull out of IPL after Virat Kohli & Co refuse to play Manchester Test: Just when things seemed to enter into the fifth gear for IPL 2021 Phase 2, the franchises have suffered a big blow just eight days ahead of the resumption of the tournament. Three England players — Jonny Bairstow, Chris Woakes and Dawid Malan have withdrawn from IPL 2021 citing personal reasons, dealing a blow to SRH, DC and PBKS respectively. IPL 2021 Phase 2: “Yes, Dawid Malan has pulled out. We have just been informed,” Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon confirmed to InsideSport. The franchise has roped in South Africa’s Aiden Markram as a replacement.

Sunrisers Hyderabad also confirmed that Jonny Bairstow had opted out and the franchise is looking for a suitable replacement.

“Bairstow will not be available for the remaining IPL this season. We are working on finding a suitable replacement,” a source told ANI.

As reported earlier, the cancellation of the 5th test between India vs England hasn’t gone down well with some of the England cricketers. Some of them were angry and furious after Virat Kohli & Co decided against taking the field after a COVID-19 outbreak in the India camp.

IPL 2021 Phase 2: According to a report by The Sun, England camp believes that the Indian players themselves played with Covid rules and were even spotted out and about in Manchester on Thursday when they were meant to be at their hotel.

IPL 2021 Phase 2: Why some England cricketers are angry and furious with India?

ENGLAND are claiming India played ‘fast and loose‘ with Covid rules the day before the Fifth Test match was cancelled.

  • Unsubstantiated reports claim that the Indian cricketers even on Thursday i.e day before the match was seen venturing out on Manchester streets while the entire Covid-19 related drama in their camp was getting unfolded.
  • The report claims that the Indian players were spotted in a well-known department store in Manchester on Thursday. The report further says that another member of the Indian team attended a photoshoot.
  • Every Indian player returned negative PCR tests on Thursday & still they refused to take the field on Friday.
  • England is primarily very angry with the Indian squad as they attended an autobiography launch for head coach Ravi Shastri this month. Sources described India’s behaviour as “reckless” and believes that became the main reason for the positive tests in the Indian squad.

Five England players from their Test squad — Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Moeen Ali, Dawid Malan and Chris Woakes — are also part of IPL 2021. However, Sam Curran and Moeen Ali will be taking a commercial flight with Indian stars for IPL.

“We tried charter flights but since it was a last-minute option, we could not arrange any. Our players will be leaving tonight and will reach Dubai tomorrow. Some of the England players (in IPL) will also come along with them,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told InsideSport.
