IPL 2021 – BCCI issues Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for IPL 2021: The Indian team members currently playing series against England will not get any break to meet family members or anyone ahead of IPL 2021. According to just released BCCI’s bio-secure protocols for IPL 2021, board has instructed Indian players to directly join their franchise bio-bubbles. If not, then players will have to go under 7 days quarantine before they will be allowed to join their respective franchise.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, BCCI has permitted Bubble to Bubble transfers for the Indian team players as well as any foreign player coming in from Bio-Bubble of their national squad.

“Players coming directly from the Bubble created for the India vs. England series, may be permitted to join the franchise squad without serving the mandatory quarantine period, provided they satisfy the criteria of moving directly to the franchise team hotel either in the team bus or on a chartered flight,” the BCCI stated in a note seen by Cricbuzz.

IPL 2021: IPL team owners will have to quarantine for 7 days before meeting their team players

The 7 day quarantine norm will apply to everyone including the team owners. If the franchise owner or anyone in the franchise management wants to meet the players, they will first have to spend 7 days in quarantine before they will be allowed to meet their team members.

“If chartered flights are used then all protocols for crew members must be followed. If the travel arrangements are to the satisfaction of the BCCI Chief Medical Officer then such players will directly enter the franchise team Bubble without the need to serve a quarantine period or undergo an RT-PCR test,” according to the report by Cricbuzz.

IPL 2021: BCCI issues SOPs for IPL 2021 – Some important features

– Bubble-to-Bubble transfer rules will apply for them as long as they are flying by chartered flights.

– In IPL 2021 overall 12 Bubbles will be created – eight Bubbles include franchise teams and support staff, two Bubbles are meant for match officials and match management teams and two more bubbles for broadcast commentators and crew.

– The BCCI’s officials and operations teams will not be part of any Bubble and as a consequence, the BCCI officials cannot interact in person with any player, team support staff, match management teams and broadcast crews.

– 4 Bubble integrity managers for each team. Their job will be to report any Bio-secure Environment protocol breaches by members of the franchise team to the BCCI Chief Medical Officer according to the note issued by BCCI.

– No Covid-19 vaccination drive for those involved in the league
